Cloud Hosting: what it is and how to get started
myPandos Cloud Hosting is a virtual server with full root access β what it is, who it suits, and what to do right after you buy it.
myPandos Cloud Hosting is a virtual private server with full root access, running on our own infrastructure. It is the same underlying product as our VPS plans, sold under the Cloud Hosting name for customers looking for scalable server infrastructure rather than a single managed website.
Who it suits
- Developers and agencies who need full control over the server environment.
- Applications that need a specific software stack, runtime, or configuration.
- Businesses that have outgrown Shared Hosting's shared, managed environment.
If you just want a standard website or blog with nothing to administer, Shared Hosting or WordPress Hosting is simpler β myPandos manages the server for you on those plans. Cloud Hosting gives you the server; you (or your developer) run it.
What you get
- Full root access to a Linux server.
- A choice of operating system template when you order.
- Dedicated vCPU, RAM, and SSD storage for the plan you choose.
- A dedicated IP address and SSH access.
Getting started after you buy
- Go to https://dash.mypandos.io, sign in, and open your new service under Services.
- Find your IP address, SSH port, and root credentials in the service's Server Access card β click to reveal the password.
- Connect over SSH and start installing the software your application needs. Nothing beyond the base operating system is pre-installed, so plan for setting up your own web server, database, and any other services yourself.
For day-to-day management β restarting or rebuilding the server, backups and snapshots, and what myPandos manages versus what's your responsibility β see the VPS article; Cloud Hosting uses the exact same tools.
