Organising your services into sites
Your dashboard groups your services into sites β everything that serves one domain, shown together. This guide covers what a site is, what the new site line on every service page does, how to attach a service to a site yourself, and why a VPS or server never joins one on its own.
A site is one of your web properties, named after the domain it answers to. Your dashboard reads everything on your account and groups it by that name, so example.com becomes a single page showing the domain registration, the hosting behind it, the mailboxes on it, the SSL certificate protecting it and the DNS records pointing at it. Nothing is bought or created when a site appears β a site is simply a view of services you already have.
Finding your sites
- Sign in at dash.mypandos.io.
- Choose Sites in the menu.
- Each card is one property. Open one to see everything attached to it, across the Overview, Hosting, Mailboxes, Health and Backups tabs.
Anything that is not tied to a site is listed separately under Infrastructure on the same page.
Every service page now tells you which site it is on
Open any service β a hosting plan, a mailbox plan, a certificate, a domain β and the top of the page now shows Part of example.com, followed by a short row of links to the other things serving that same domain.
Those links are the fastest route between the pieces of one property. From a domain you can now reach its mailboxes in a single click; before, that took three, and mailboxes included with a hosting plan had no direct route at all. See all on this site at the end of the row opens the full site page.
Attaching a service to a site
Most services file themselves under the right property, because the domain on the service says which one it is. When it does not, you can attach the service yourself.
One service at a time:
- Open My Services in your dashboard.
- Find the service, open its actions menu at the end of the row, and choose Attach to site.
- In Attach to a site, pick a site from the list β or type a name into Search or type a domain and choose Use "yourdomain.com".
Several at once:
- On My Services, tick the checkbox on each service you want to move.
- In the bar that appears, choose Attach to site.
- Pick or type the site as above. All of the selected services are attached together.
Tip: a site does not have to exist first. Type a name that has nothing attached to it yet and the site starts the moment you attach the first service. The domain also does not have to be registered with us β hosting for a name you registered elsewhere is exactly the case this is for. Enter the name on its own, withoutwww.and withouthttps://.
Detaching a service
- On My Services, open the service's actions menu and choose Attach to site again.
- Choose Detach from site.
The service goes back to being grouped by its own domain if it has one, and otherwise returns to Infrastructure. Nothing else about it changes.
Why your VPS or server shows no site
A VPS, a dedicated server or a colocated machine is never filed under a site on its own, even when it is named after one. That is a deliberate choice, not a fault, and it is the question we are asked most about sites.
A server is account-level infrastructure. It can carry one property, twenty, or none at all, and its name is yours to choose β often taken from the first thing you put on it, sometimes from nothing in particular. Deciding that a machine called example-web-01 belongs to example.com would be a guess, and a wrong guess would quietly file your server under a property it does not serve.
So we wait for you to say. Attach the server to a site using the steps above and it appears there from then on. Leave it detached and it stays under Infrastructure, which is the right answer for a machine serving several properties at once.
Attaching is organisational only
Worth stating plainly, because it is the second question we are asked: attaching or detaching a service changes nothing but where it appears in your dashboard.
- Billing is unchanged. No invoice is combined, split or re-dated, and no price moves.
- Renewals are unchanged. Every service keeps its own renewal date and is still renewed by its own invoice.
- How the service runs is unchanged. No DNS record is written, no website is moved, no mailbox is touched and nothing restarts.
You can attach, detach and re-attach as often as you like. The only thing you are editing is the name your dashboard groups on.
