Verifying your registrant email address
ICANN rules require every new domain registration to verify its contact email β miss the deadline and the domain gets suspended.
When you register a new domain, ICANN (the organization that oversees domain names globally) requires every registrar to verify that the registrant's email address is real and reachable. This isn't specific to myPandos β it applies to every domain registered with any accredited registrar.
What happens after you register
- Shortly after your domain registers, an email is sent to the registrant contact email on the order asking you to confirm it.
- Click the confirmation link in that email.
That's it β verification takes a few seconds once you have the email in front of you.
Why it matters
You have 15 days to verify from the date the email is sent. If it isn't verified in time, ICANN rules require the domain to be suspended until it is β the domain would stop resolving even though it's still registered to you. This is one of the most common reasons a brand-new domain "isn't working."
Didn't get the email, or it expired?
- Check your spam/junk folder first β verification emails are sometimes filtered.
- Confirm the registrant email on the domain is correct and one you actually check β you can review it from the domain's contact details in your dashboard at https://dash.mypandos.io.
- Contact [email protected] to have the verification email resent.
When you don't need to do this again
Verification is a one-time requirement per registrant email address at registration. Renewing a domain doesn't trigger a new verification. If you later change the registrant contact's name, organization or email address on a domain, ICANN rules require verifying it again at that point.
