FreeDNS: free DNS hosting for any domain
Manage a domain's DNS on myPandos's Cloudflare-backed network at no cost β even if it's registered somewhere else entirely.
FreeDNS is myPandos's standalone DNS hosting service: a real Cloudflare account and zone, provisioned for you, at no cost. You don't need to register your domain with myPandos or buy hosting to use it β it works for any domain, registered anywhere.
Who it's for
- Anyone who wants fast, reliable DNS without paying for it separately.
- Domains registered at another registrar that you don't want to move, but want better DNS tools for.
- Anyone who wants DNS analytics, DNSSEC, and a Cloudflare proxy option without a Cloudflare account of their own.
What's included
- A dedicated Cloudflare account and zone β not a shared zone with other customers, and we can invite you into the Cloudflare dashboard directly if you want to see it yourself.
- All standard DNS record types: A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, TXT, NS, SRV, CAA.
- DNS analytics β query volume, most-requested records, where queries come from, and response codes.
- Optional Cloudflare proxying per record, for CDN caching, a web application firewall, and DDoS protection.
- One-click DNSSEC, with the DS record you need to add at your registrar shown for you.
- Zone import/export, and a live check that compares your registrar's nameservers, live DNS, and your myPandos zone β so nameserver drift is caught instead of silently ignored.
Setting it up
- Sign in at https://dash.mypandos.io β you'll need a verified email address on your account.
- Add the domain for DNS-only management (from the domains section of your dashboard).
- Recreate any DNS records the domain currently needs (mail, verification records, and so on) in the new zone before switching nameservers, so nothing breaks in the gap.
- Update the domain's nameservers at its current registrar to the ones myPandos gives you.
Your domain's registration stays exactly where it is β FreeDNS only takes over DNS, not the registration itself.
Limits
FreeDNS is free but not unlimited: accounts are capped at a set number of domains (10 by default), and an account with a blocked reputation status can't add new domains. If you need more than the default limit, contact [email protected].
Is WHOIS lookup part of FreeDNS?
No β FreeDNS manages your DNS records. To check a domain's registration status, expiry date or registrar, use the separate WHOIS lookup tool at https://mypandos.io/en/whois.
