Transferring a domain away from myPandos
Get your EPP/authorization code from myPandos to move a domain to another registrar.
If you want to move a domain registered with myPandos to a different registrar, you'll need an EPP code (also called an authorization code or auth code) from us. Here's how to get it and what to expect.
Before you start
- A domain can only be transferred once it is at least 60 days past its registration or last transfer date β this is an ICANN rule that applies at every registrar, not something myPandos controls.
- Make sure the registrant email address on the domain is one you can access β that's where the code and the transfer confirmation are sent.
Step 1: Unlock the domain
- Sign in at https://dash.mypandos.io and open the domain you want to transfer.
- Go to its Settings tab.
- Turn off Registrar Lock. This protects against unauthorized transfers, so it needs to be off before a transfer can start. Give it a few minutes to take effect.
Step 2: Request the EPP code
- On the same Settings tab, find EPP / Transfer Code and request it.
- myPandos asks NameSilo, our registrar partner, for the code. NameSilo does not display it on screen β it emails the code to the domain's registrant email address. This happens even if WHOIS privacy is on, since privacy only hides that address from public WHOIS lookups, not from the registrar itself.
- Check your inbox (and spam folder) for the email from NameSilo.
Step 3: Give the code to your new registrar
Enter the domain name and EPP code at the registrar you're moving to. They will send a transfer request that myPandos (via NameSilo) must not reject for the transfer to proceed β an unlocked domain with a valid, unexpired code normally goes through without any action needed on your side beyond confirming the transfer email.
What to expect
Most transfers complete within 5-7 days. Your website and email keep working throughout β only the registrar changes. Once the transfer completes at the registry, the domain will show as transferred out in your myPandos dashboard, and any remaining service on our side ends automatically; you don't need to cancel it separately.
Troubleshooting
- EPP code email hasn't arrived β confirm the domain is unlocked and check spam; request it again after a few minutes.
- "Domain is locked" error at the new registrar β the unlock may not have propagated yet; wait a few minutes and try again, or contact [email protected].
- Code rejected as invalid β EPP codes are case-sensitive; copy it exactly, and request a new one if it's been more than a few days.
