Transferring a domain to myPandos
Move a domain you own elsewhere to myPandos β get your EPP code, unlock the domain, and we handle the rest.
Transferring a domain to myPandos moves it from your current registrar to us β the domain keeps its registration history, and your website and email keep working throughout. This guide covers what you need before you start and what happens after.
Before you start: check eligibility
- The domain must be at least 60 days past its registration or last transfer date β ICANN rules bar transfers within 60 days of either.
- It must not be under an expiry lock at your current registrar (some registrars auto-lock a domain shortly before it expires).
- WHOIS/registrant contact details should be up to date β the transfer confirmation is sent to the registrant email on file.
Step 1: Unlock the domain and get your EPP code
At your current registrar (not myPandos):
- Sign in to your account there and find the domain's management page.
- Unlock the domain β look for "Transfer Lock", "Registrar Lock" or similar, and turn it off.
- Request the EPP code (also called an authorization code or auth code) β most registrars email it to you or display it once the domain is unlocked.
Do this first β a locked domain or a missing code is the most common reason a transfer stalls.
Step 2: Start the transfer with myPandos
- Go to https://mypandos.io/en/services/domain-transfer and enter the domain name to check it's eligible.
- Enter the EPP code from Step 1 and add the transfer to your cart.
- Check out and pay. A domain transfer is billed like a one-year renewal, and includes a free one-year extension added to the domain's current expiry date.
Step 3: Confirm the transfer
ICANN requires an email confirmation step. Watch for an email β usually to the registrant address on file, sometimes also from your current registrar β and approve the transfer. If you don't respond, most registrars let the transfer proceed automatically after 5 days, but approving it promptly avoids delays.
What happens next
Most transfers complete within 5-7 days; some registrars take longer. Your website and email keep working normally throughout β a transfer only changes who the registrar is, not your DNS or hosting. Once complete, the domain appears in your myPandos dashboard at https://dash.mypandos.io, with free WHOIS privacy and full DNS management available.
If the transfer is rejected or stalls
- "Domain is locked" β go back to your old registrar and confirm the unlock actually took effect; it can take a few minutes.
- "Invalid authorization code" β EPP codes are case-sensitive and often expire after a set number of days; request a fresh one.
- No confirmation email arrived β check spam, and confirm the registrant email on file at your old registrar is correct.
